Peter Perham, Managing Director of Tide Marine Limited teamed up with Harley Racing Yachts on the Isle of Wight.

The resultant Tide 28 is a fast offshore (RCD, Category 'B' rated) trailable yacht with impressive sailing performance and seaworthiness, which is very easy to rig, launch, sail and power along.  She will accept an inboard (13HP) or outboard (5 - 50HP) and can be steered with the large wheel or optional tiller.

The cockpit is very roomy and will accommodate two families. All the sails are easily managed from here; high combings keep you safely on board. Lockable lockers provide ample storage. Optional cushions are available.

The interior has six berths, full standing headroom and offers a practical galley area, good sized heads, comfortable living quarters and generous storage space throughout. There is a twin berth forward and pilot berths each side of the saloon that can seat 6 adults around the drop leaf table. Going aft, there is a very large double berth with good sitting headroom.

The galley area is well laid out with a gimballed double burner, optional oven, good sized sink and space for an electric cool box.

The heads have an optional portable or sea toilet, wash basin and mirror. Hanging space is provided for wet weather gear.

The hull is built using Isotalic Resin and unidirectional glass. This gives improved stiffness to the hull, better impact resistance and low water absorption removing the worry of future osmosis.

The keel is made up of over half a tonne of bulb bonded to a reinforced foil shaped fin to give maximum lift when going to windward. The keel is raised and lowered by way of a multiple purchase system.

A Collision Bulkhead and Positive Buoyancy has been added to help keep her afloat in case she is involved in an accident.

The deck is constructed using Isotalic Resin, unidirectional glass and this is equipped with high quality fittings, non-slip surfaces, grab rails and secure guard rails all round. The foredeck has been kept free of gear to make mooring and anchor handling safer with the added benefit of making sun bathing more comfortable.

Kevlar has been strategically used to maximise strength whilst keeping weight to a minimum.

The Z Spars rig supports a well balanced battened main sail with two reefing points and offers the use of a self tacking jib that makes going about almost effortless, and when sheeted in, makes for high pointing to windward. There is an optional asymmetric spinnaker that gives power to play with. It takes just seconds to put up or down and is easily handled by the crew. A downwind spinnaker is also available.

Electrics are all run through a switched fuse panel near the chart table.

The Tide 28 will sit on the mud on its keel bulb.

Owning a Tide 28 will eliminate having to go on marina berth waiting lists and save thousands in marina fees by keeping the Tide 28 ashore rather than afloat.

Because the Tide 28 is easy to launch, rig and sail away, you can take her anywhere anytime. This opens up the ability to explore where ever you want, when ever you want. A day’s drive can take you anywhere between the West coast of Scotland or the South coast of England, whilst Europe and the Mediterranean become very accessible for holidays.
